The maximum height threshold the Roomba can cross over during a cleaning cycle is ⅝ inch or 1.6 cm. If the threshold is more than 1.6 cm high than your Roomba is going to struggle to successfully get over it.
If your transition strip is more than 1.6cm high then you have two alternatives: schedule two separate cleaning cycles either side of the strip so that the Roomba doesn’t need to go over it, or use a small piece of carpet, a mat or build a small ramp to lessen the height of “the gap”. However, if you have thick rugs and carpets, Roomba may struggle to pull out the dirt and debris from them.

Tips to Get Roomba Go Over The Threshold
So, what are you supposed to do if you bought a robot vacuum to clean your whole first floor, but it can’t get over a threshold? Even if there are high thresholds or walls between rooms, your robot vacuum can still clean the whole floor.
Put a Rug or Mat on the Threshold.
If your thresholds are high, putting a carpet over them is one of the easiest ways to ensure your robot vacuum can move from room to room. Now, the door’s threshold won’t get in the way of your Roomba as it moves from room to room.
Plan for Different Routines Each Room
This isn’t the best solution since the best thing about a robot vacuum is that you can set it to clean on a timetable and not have to do much. In this case, you must allow the vacuum tidy one room and then move it to the next space so it can tidy there. This is not the best solution, but it might be the next best thing if you don’t like how rugs or carpets look in your doorways.
Purchase a Second Room Robot Vacuum.
This isn’t something that everyone can do. But if your robot vacuum cleaner can’t get over the divider strip between rooms, you could buy a new robot for each room. Again, this is not the best situation, but if you need a second robot vacuum and don’t care about all the bells and whistles, there are some fairly cheap options on the market.
